The inner suburb of Newton is very conveniently located just 6 miles west of downtown Boston. Also known as The Garden City and Tree City U.S.A., Newton has a vast and diverse housing stock in its 13 distinct villages, each with its own name, unique ambiance, history, and shopping conveniences. Newton’s tree-lined streets, well-maintained parks, bicycle and fitness trails, multiple golf courses, public pool, lake, and neighborhood schools make it a highly desirable community to live and work in. Newton has a new, state-of-the-art, award-winning public library, and one only has to visit its website to see why.
From July through October there is an outdoor Farmers Market. Newton’s excellent schools, multiple transportation systems, attractive neighborhoods and proximity to Boston keep the property values high (2005 average single-family sold price of $700,000-$1,000,000). Newton is a well-run city, governed by an elected mayor and a 24-member Board of Aldermen who represent the City’s eight wards and eight school committee members.
