downtown Natick, MAWith its 2005 average single-family sold price of $400,000 - $500,000, Natick is a popular destination for former city-dwellers in search of an affordable place to raise a family. Once a rural farm community, it is now a bustling tight-knit suburban community. Natick is a study in contrasts: Route 9’s multiple malls, knick-named the “Golden Triangle” is a shopping mecca. Natick Center is the quintessential small New England downtown, replete with a lush green, a large gazebo for summer music concerts and fairs, surrounded by small town businesses housed in beautifully maintained and renovated brick-front buildings. Natick also has many spots dedicated to the enjoyment of nature walks and the outdoors, as well as the omnipresent landscapes of Middle and South Ponds of Lake Cochituate.

Following the state’s standards of “smart growth,” Natick is moving ahead toward concentrating development near town centers and public transportation. Even the Natick Mall expansion of retail space by 565,000 square feet has plans for condo towers at the top. Route 9 and the Massachusetts Turnpike connect Natick with Framingham and Worcester in the west, and Wellesley, Newton, Cambridge and Boston in the east. A commuter rail line with stations in West Natick and Natick Center offers an excellent alternative to the daily drive and expensive parking in Boston. Natick hosts a number of large corporations, including Boston Scientific and Cognex which beef up Natick’s tax base.
