BUYER’S CLOSING CHECKLIST

- Change to new address:
- Driver’s license - Bank accounts - Credit cards
- Employment records - Insurance companies - Post office
- Subscriptions - Creditors
- Notify the following utilities approximately 10 days prior to closing to transfer utilities into your name and make sure that service is not interrupted:
- Oil
- Electric
- Telephone
- Cable
- Water
- Make moving arrangements.
Bring to Closing: Be sure to bring your driver’s license or another picture form of ID.
- Certified check or cashier’s check drawn in Buyer’s name (or cash) for the difference between the sale price of the property and the amount of the mortgage less any deposit already made. Call the closing attorney to find out the necessary amount.
- At the closing, the bank may require 2 to 3 months’ tax payments (to be held in escrow by the Bank).
- Additional fees are: the bank’s legal fees, title search, and lien certificate. These exact amounts can be obtained from the bank’s attorney prior to closing. (Cash or personal checks will be acceptable for these fees.) The oil in the oil tank is the personal property of the Sellers. Buyers pay Sellers for partial or full tank (personal check).
- Paid insurance policy or binder for new property (whichever the conveying attorney specifies) in an amount equal to the amount of the mortgage. Ask your insurance agent for advice on this matter.
- Personal checkbook for miscellaneous items and/or adjustments.
